Join futurist Alex Steffen, Jon Christensen, editor of Boom: A Journal of California, and CHS Executive Director, Anthea Hartig for a lively conversation about the evolving practice of doing history and the changing roles of scholarship, archives, libraries, and historical societies. In the land of the California dream and the heart of a high tech boomtown, we ask does history have a future? How do we utilize history today and how might we tomorrow? What can we learn from the history of history here in California?
Alex Steffen is an author, speaker, strategic advisor, and planetary futurist.
Anthea Hartig, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the California Historical Society.
Jon Christensen is editor of Boom: A Journal of California, a longtime journalist, a senior fellow at cityLAB at the University of California, Los Angeles, an adjunct assistant professor in the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, the Department of History, and the Center for Digital Humanities at UCLA, and a partner in Stamen Design in San Francisco.
